Privacy Policy

Last updated September 22, 2026. This policy covers the SkyTab Chrome extension.

What SkyTab collects

• Location. If you choose "Use my location," your browser's standard geolocation permission prompt appears, the same one any website can show. If you decline, or choose "Choose a city" instead, SkyTab only uses the city name you type.
• Your settings. Chosen city, coordinates, detected country, and temperature unit preference are saved using Chrome's built-in extension storage (chrome.storage.local).

That's the complete list. SkyTab does not collect your name, email address, browsing history, or the contents of pages you visit.

Where your data goes

Your coordinates or chosen city are sent to two places, and only for the reasons below:

• Open-Meteo, a public weather data provider, to request the current forecast.
• BigDataCloud's reverse-geocoding service, only when you use automatic location, to determine which country your coordinates fall in so SkyTab can show Fahrenheit or Celsius correctly and update it automatically if you travel.

We do not operate a server that receives, logs, or stores this information ourselves. Your settings stay in Chrome's local storage on your own device and are never transmitted anywhere beyond those two requests.

What we never do

• We never track which websites you visit.
• We never sell or share your location or settings with anyone.
• We never change your browser's default search engine, homepage, or new tab page.
• We never require an account, email address, or sign-in.
• The SkyTab extension itself never uses cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party trackers.

This website

These web pages (not the extension) use Google Analytics to count anonymous visits, such as which pages are viewed and roughly which country visitors are in. It cannot see anything from inside the extension. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, and you can block it with any content blocker.

Children's privacy

SkyTab is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since we don't collect personal information at all, there is nothing to knowingly collect from any age group.

Changes to this policy

If what SkyTab collects or does ever changes, this page will be updated to match, and the "last updated" date above will change.
